On August 29, 2025, the Board of Trustees of the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division was pleased to honour this year’s recipient of the prestigious “Share the Mission Award: Mr. Chris Hartman, teacher at St. Francis Junior High School in Lethbridge.

The “Share the Mission Award” is intended to honour those who:

  • offer outstanding or long-term service;
  • accept demanding challenges and set new standards for others to follow;
  • contribute, through action and deed, to the Catholic atmosphere of our schools;
  • demonstrate involvement and leadership in community/parish organizations; and
  • reflect the Mission Statement of the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division in all actions.

Chris Share the Mission 2025

Chris was nominated by his colleagues, parents, and students, all eager to recognize the profound impact he has had at St. Francis Junior High and beyond. His influence extends from the classroom to the parish, from fine arts to faith life, and through his quiet, humble leadership that inspires students and staff alike.

In the absence of Chris’s primary nominator, Jackie Kramer reflected on the outpouring of gratitude from the community:

“Everyone has a story to share about Chris, and they all speak to his humility, humor, and deep Catholic faith. He builds community through music, mentorship, and faith, helping others see gifts they may not see in themselves. He models daily what it means to share the mission, leading not for recognition, but with a servant’s heart.”

In his acceptance, Chris deflected the spotlight as he so often does, inviting his colleagues to pause and reflect on the shared mission of Catholic education:

“Sometimes we can forget how many ways we, as Catholic teachers, are instrumental in guiding our students as they form their worldviews and learn to live patiently, lovingly, and peacefully. These qualities are fruits of the Holy Spirit, and God is truly pleased with our work. We have the privilege to name Jesus Christ as the source of all goodness in our lives and to help our students discover who they are and the gifts God has given them.”

The Board of Trustees congratulates Mr. Chris Hartman for living out the mission of Catholic education with joy, humility, and unwavering faith. His witness is an inspiration to all who learn and serve alongside him.
